I'm confused as to why the bucks and doe...s (it always looks like does when I want to say 'more then one doe' ) are calling them selves "mates", isn't it true that there can be one buck for meny doe? and are bucks really around for the birthing?

sometimes. And yes, bucks have a harem of does, so theres a herd. But they can act however they want to.
